What you need to know about cupping massage

Cupping is a very effective treatment that originates from traditional Chinese medicine. It is often used as a complement to other alternative medical treatments such as acupuncture. Cupping massage is an in-depth muscle and connective tissue treatment that promotes the circulation of blood, lymph and tissue fluids using a vacuum on the skin created by glass or plastic suction cups. Primarily, Cupping is applied in different types of pain syndromes, mild rheumatism, poor circulation, and low metabolism. It is effective against exercise pain or muscular pain as well as gastrointestinal problems. In the case of multiple injuries, the blood and lymphatic flow increases locally and accelerates the healing process. Therefore, cupping is an excellent massage after injuries. In addition, function of sweat and sebaceous glands improves, metabolic by-products are extracted from the skin. cupping does strengthen the skin’s resistance to external strain.

Can cupping reduce cellulite?

Many therapists claim that it helps reduce cellulite, but there is currently no scientific evidence for it. But cupping affects the skin structure and can make the connective tissue feel firmer after treatment. Book a massage and try it yourself! For long-term positive effects, it should be performed on a regular basis.

Positive effects of cupping

• Cleans and softens the skin
• Removes toxins, excess fluid, and metabolic by-products from the skin
• Dissolves deep muscle tension in a comfortable way
• Improves the blood and lymphatic flow in the body
• Supports a healthier and more active immune system
• Reduces joint pain[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”8524″ img_size=”600×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]

How does cupping massage work?

In cupping massage glass or plastic cups are suctioned onto the skin. It is performed with a flowing motion across the treatment area or static as a spot treatment. Statically performed, the cups remain on the skin for 10 to 15 minutes, to dissolve troublesome muscle nodules and to affect the body’s flow of blood and energy. As a result of the negative pressure created by the cup, it increases blood circulation very effectively in joints, muscles, and associated tissues. In sensitive skin you may notice some discoloration of the skin afterwards. However, discoloration will disappear after a few days. I do not recommend doing cupping for at least 2 days before or after sunbathing as this massage method can increased skin sensitivity and leave dark marks.

What should I think about after the treatment?

You should drink more water after the massage and preferably rest for the day. But it is fine to go for a gentle and relaxing walk. I cannot recommend you do vigorous exercise after the treatment as that will reduce the effect of the massage. If you want exercise the same day, you should do that before.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
